Renee C. Mathewson is an award-winning global corporate affairs, brand, and communications executive with more than 20 years of experience advising CEOs and senior leadership teams at the intersection of reputation, culture, and commercial value. She currently serves as Vice President of Brand & Corporate Affairs for North America at Sage, reporting directly to the Global Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and acting as her delegate across the region.
In her role at Sage, Renee leads enterprise brand strategy, corporate affairs, executive communications, media relations, government relations, and community engagement across the United States and Canada. She architects and delivers vertically focused campaigns aligned to commercial priorities, contributing to sustained double-digit year-over-year revenue growth.
Renee is a trusted advisor and spokesperson for senior leaders, supporting CEO and president-level engagements and guiding executive visibility in high-stakes environments. Her work includes shaping narrative strategy informed by RepTrak data, macroeconomic trends, and competitive intelligence to proactively mitigate reputational risk and align external perception with enterprise strategy. She also leads North America’s Agentic AI positioning and narrative, defining how AI enhances brand trust, customer experience, and long-term commercial impact while ensuring responsible and ethical integration across corporate affairs functions.
Renee held senior leadership roles at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), where she led internal, corporate, and corporate responsibility communications across the Americas, supporting C-Suite leaders during periods of transformation, growth, and pandemic recovery. Her portfolio included executive communications, culture and colleague engagement, DEI communications, sustainability storytelling, and the design and delivery of large-scale corporate meetings and events. Earlier in her career, she led corporate communications for Delta Vacations, overseeing media relations, executive visibility, social media strategy, sponsorships, and community affairs, generating significant earned media value and measurable revenue impact with limited budgets.
Across global brands and highly scrutinized environments, Renee is known for her judgment, clarity, and ability to translate complexity into credible, actionable narratives. She brings a steady, enterprise-level approach to reputation stewardship, executive counsel, and stakeholder trust, particularly in moments of visibility, risk, and transformation.
Renee holds a master’s degree in Strategic Communications and Leadership and is a graduate of the Corporate Affairs Academy at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, as well as the Senior Leadership Program at London Business School. She has been recognized with multiple leadership honors, including the Black Stars Award and the OnBoard Excellence Award, reflecting her impact as a senior leader and advisor at the highest levels of organizations.
